What does our hair need to grow strong and healthy?

Many of us go to the store and purchase products we think we need for our hair.  Did you ever think of what your hair really needs to grow strong and healthy?

15 but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.

Here is a list of things your hair needs:

  • Selenium promotes hair growth and  reduces dandruff
  • Folic acid helps thicken hair and strengthens the hair is used in prenatal vitamins to help the body utilize iron.
  • Magnesium stimulates hair growth and every single cell in our body needs magnesium to function well.
  • Vitamin B3 and niacin which transforms dull weak hair.

All these nutrients are contained in rice water.  Use organic rice for best results.

Also good for nails strengthening and skin toning.

Onion Juice – Contains Soluble Sulfer and is Anti-Microbial.


  1. 1 Whole Onion & Choice of Oil (Olive Oil, Coconut Oil etc.) or Honey.
  2. Mix in a Blender until it forms a thick buttery paste.
  3. Add water or extra oil if needed.
  4. Place in clean cloth and squeeze out liquid.
  5. Add essentials oil if needed.
  6. Massage liquid into hair and scalp.
  7. Let sit in hair 1-3 hours.
  8. Rinse & Shampoo.
  9. Use 3-4 times per week.

Flaxseed Gel – A Natural Moisturizer and Hold For All Hair Types (Wash & Go Curls Styling)



  1. 1/4 cup of flaxseed oil
  2. 2 cups of water.
  • Bring to a boil and allow to thicken, stirring to ensure the flaxseed does not stick to the bottom.
  • Let cool for 30 min – 1 hour.  Do not leave it too long or it will be too thick to strain.  If you do forget it, add a little water and warm back up to thin out mixture and strain.
  • Use a cloth or panty hose to strain into jar.

Add Essential Oils (for added scent and as preservatives optional)

  1. Vitamin E
  2. Basil
  3. Rosemary
  4. Ylang Ylang
  5. Lavender
  • Use and keep refrigerated for up to 3 weeks.



Anti-microbial, heals and repairs hair and skin.


1 cup of coconut oil

4-5 tablespoons of crushed neem leaves or powder.


Melt coconut oil in a double boiler method on stove.

Add the neem leaves or powder.

Stir continuously for about fifteen minutes until the oil turns a dark green


Claims to produce results with 1 month. Available on

  1. 1/2 cup Fenugreek (Methi) seeds
  2. 1 Tablespoon Amla
  3. 1 Tablespoon Henna
  4. 1 cup Coconut Oil
  5. 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
  6. 5 Tablespoons of Castor Oil


Heat coconut oil in saucepan. Add all ingredients. Mix well to get all the lumps out. Stir regularly for 10 minutes. Turn off and set aside to cool. Then pour everything into a jar.

Add to jar:

  1. 1/4 tsp of MSM
  2. 10 drops of lavender oil
  3. 10 drops of peppermint oil
  4. 1 tablespoon of rosemary oil
  • Store in a dark cabinet for up to 4 weeks.
  • For each use: Sift into bottle or container.
  • Add more essential oils to combat strong smell


3 Step Treatment

Step 1:  Hair Paste

Deep Conditioner

Recipe Instructions:


  1. 1 tablespoon of henna
  2. 1/2 teaspoon of maca powder
  3. 1/2 teaspoon of amla
  4. 1 teaspoon of marshmallow root
  5. Aloe Vera Juice

Mix together to form a paste and allow to sit for at least 4 hours.  Add deep conditioner. Store extra in the refrigerator.

Step 2: Herbal Tea Spray

  1. Lavender

  1. Place 1 tablespoon of all ingredients in cup or container.
  2. Add boiling water and allow to sit for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Let cool and store in a spray bottle.
  4. Refrigerate.

Add to a jar and let sit in a dark cabinet for 3-4 days. Then pass through a sift and allow to sit for 2 more days. Add to scalp every other day. Massage scalp to encourage blood flow to your scalp which promotes hair growth. Can use a vibrating scalp massager.

  1. 1/2 cup of grapeseed oil
  2. 1/4 cup castor oil
  3. 1 teaspoon MSM
  4. 1 teaspoon amla powder
  5. 2 tablespoon of fenugreek
  6. 1 teaspoon saw palmetto
  7. 1 teaspoon of horsetail
  8. 1 teaspoon of bhringraj


  1. Grate carrots
  2. Add to Large Sauce Pan
  3. Allow to cook
  4. Add Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  5. Strain into bowl
  6. Store in jar
